The groundbreaking study by Dr. Rolando Martinez in 1995 indicates that leptocarpin appears to inhibit the synthesis of proteins in HeLa cancer cells. It does not, however, affect nuclear acid synthesis within healthy cells.
Other studies indicate that the leptocarpin molecule is cytotoxic and apoptotic. It also drives chemosensitivity, which is to say it increases the susceptibility of cancer cells to chemotherapy in the case of leukemia cells and a variety of tumors. Leptocarpin has also demonstrated an ability to decrease blood sugar levels in mammals. To date, no short-term or medium-term effects have been observed.
In our experience, the only precautionary measure which should be taken is to work up to a full concentration of brew over a period of 2 to 3 weeks.
